This idea to make a cost-effective fridge struck her when her compound wall deteriorated, and she wanted to use the bricks from that deteriorated wall constructively leading her to make a non-electric and cost-effective fridge. This motivated her to invent a cost-effective refrigerator that would help farmers to keep their vegetables fresh if they are unable to sell them.
